Sex Lies and Hollywood

 ”There is no rehab for homophobia—that was just some crap being put out by the network,” says Washington.  Well, so glad he cleared that up.  Everyone was wondering.   He just can’t see to stop talking about being fired from Grey’s Anatomy.  He continues putting his foot in his mouth. “I apologized and showed my remorse for what I said and for the pain I caused anyone. If a black man can’t get forgiveness in this country, when so many other people like Robert Downey Jr. and the governor of California get second and third chances … I think that says a lot about race and this country where we stand.”  Well, now its about race.  It’s not about his saying awful, terrible, insulting things. And he kept repeating his bad words.  It wasn’t just once.  But, I guess he forgets that.  Sometimes saying you are sorry is just not enough.  

Washington says the terrible things he said is due to an artist’s temperament. “I have a mind of my own and I do speak it when I feel it’s right. In this business that’s considered being difficult and hard to deal with. A lot of actors face this and it does hurt you with work and in the future jobs.”  Really.  I wish he would give us an example of another actor insulting his co star on set in front of everyone.

Isaiah Washington says “I’m not firing back at anybody else in the cast but T.R. Knight and Katie Heigl because they both know as well as Chandra Wilson knows that T.R. Knight was very tactical in trying to remove me from the show because he knows that I know, and I was gagged, that he has been working on a conspiracy to get Patrick Dempsey and myself off the show for the last year and a half. ”  And so it goes on.  Talk about not taking responsibility.  When nothing else works, I guess it must be a conspiracy. 

Washington says this “has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that he’s gay. He came out October 19 as purely a tactical move to do exactly what it did, get public opinion in an outrage to lead them to believe that he is being picked on because he is gay. He could care less about the gay community.”  Read the article and you decide who has a problem.

Washington is firing back, insisting he should not have been the one to go. “They fired the wrong guy. I have to clear my name. I’ll start from the beginning. I’m telling everything. So here’s the truth. I feel all this was about him getting a raise and getting his character to stop being perceived as a dopey, cooky kind of character. He perceives himself as a leading man. That’s why you could see the change this past season. That was his whole impetus behind it. I was used and I was exploited. I may be wrong but that’s how I feel about it.”

Wow!  He calls T.R. Knight a derogatory name,  slurs him in front of co workers and then blames the other guy.  He is a piece of work.   So much for therapy and rehab.  Washington has certainly learned nothing.

“I’m mad as hell, and I’m not going to take it anymore” said the 43 year old actor when learning that his contract would not be renewed.  He is no longer going to play Dr. Preston Burke on Grey’s Anatomy and get that fabulous salary which supports his lifestyle.  

He used an anti-gay epithet backstage at the Golden Globe Awards in January while denying he’d used it previously on the set against cast mate T.R. Knight when everyone heard him say it!   He apologized after first denying the allegation.  He said he was seeking therapy.  Well, doesn’t everyone in Hollywood go for therapy anyway.   He made a public service announcement saying that words hurt.  Really!   Maybe next time he will think first before defaming a colleague.  Goodbye and good riddance.  This should have been done immediately after he outed a cast member.  It took five months for ABC to do the right thing.
